Italian container glassmaker Vetri Speciali has inaugurated a new furnace at its Ormelle plant.
The furnace was inaugurated last week in a ribbon cutting ceremony at the site in Treviso, about 40km north of Venice. Part of the funds for the €38 million investment were from the European Investment Bank.
Vetri Speciali said: “This new plant that will bring a significant improvement in working comfort and an even greater attention to the environment projecting the history of the plant and its territory in the global panorama of the great glass industry.”
A total of 84 suppliers were involved in the project, many of them from the local area. Vetri Speciali has its headquarters in Trento and has four plants in total: Ormelle, Gardolo, Pergine Valsugana and San Vito al Tagliamento.
