H.C. Starck Products for Glass Production Featured at Glasstec 2016

H.C. Starck’s robust portfolio of products for the glass melting industry will be on display at Glasstec 2016 in Dusseldorf, Germany, September 20-23. H.C. Starck’s expertise in the production and processing of high performance materials like molybdenum benefit applications in melting, homogenizing, feeding, shaping of glass, sputtered coatings of glass, quartz forming and melting, and sapphire crystal growing.

Featured will be H.C. Starck’s high purity molybdenum (Mo) and premium molybdenum-zirconium (MoZr) electrodes for the glass melting and quartz industries. These glass melting electrodes (GME) are available with conventional threads and custom tapered threads for ease of installation. To protect the electrodes and extend their operational life, we offer oxidation resistant coatings.

With its innovative fabrication capabilities, H.C. Starck produces stirrers, flow orifices, wear parts, mesh hot zones, forming tools, orifice plates and mandrels for high temperature glass melts. To accommodate both the LED lighting and solar industries, H.C. Starck offers molybdenum (Mo) and tungsten (W) crucibles for sapphire crystal-growth and molybdenum (Mo) sputtering targets for renewable energy applications.

”H.C. Starck understands glass melting and the need to provide products that perform well in hot molten glass, quartz melting and forming, and sputtering of thin films for photovoltaic substrates. Our focus on the development of innovative materials and alloys offers customers material choices that improve their product’s performance and cost,” said Mark Confroy, CEO of H.C. Starck’s Fabricated Products Division. “As an added benefit, we offer our customers the latest in modeling simulation tools to assist with thermal and mechanical stress, and failure analysis of glass melting furnace components.”

H.C. Starck supplies molybdenum glass melting electrodes with the highest standards for efficient glass melting. The high temperature strength and rigidity of molybdenum electrodes, plus the inherent electrical properties of molybdenum, provide maximum operating efficiency. The quality and consistency of H.C. Starck‘s molybdenum electrodes achieves outstanding resistance to chemical corrosion, degradation and minimizes detrimental glass discoloring for product performance H.C. Starck’s customers have come to experience over many years.

Join us at the Messe Dusseldorf, Hall 13, Stand E92 to discuss our newest products and modeling capabilities for glass melting industry.
