Find glass producers in a minute

There is much more behind the surface called, as the providing company is operated by graduate engineers and experts in glass technology, combustion and mechanical engineering.

glassglobal have decided to merge their technical know-how and market knowledge into an online market study with database and have thus created It provides information about glass producers worldwide as a permanently updated and expanding tool.


The site is based on three databases and a text component, which is the actual study. The databases are:

  1. Glass producers with names, locations, furnaces, capacities, products, partially colours and years of construction (partially confidential)
  2. Demoscopic data, like population, employment, unemployment rate, GDP, GNI in glass producing countries from A to Z. Data are collected partially since 1995 and were added with an expectation until 2020.
  3. Import and export data from glass producing and non glass producing countries from A to Z. Data are available in weight and value.


More than a hundred users have booked the access to shortly after the publication. Thanks to their feedback and input, we are able to further develop the tool and the ease of use. The main feature is a filter, which can be used to select a target group. Selection options are:

  • Furnace Type (e.g. Regenerative Side-Port, Oxy-Fuel etc.)
  • Glass Type and Category (e.g. Glass Containers, Food & Beverages or Pharma & Cosmetic)
  • Glass Colour
  • Region and Country
  • Group
  • Capacity in Tons per Day

Users select their relevant options. There’s no need to peruse a study with hundreds of pages to finally find what they look for. During the selection process, they can see the result list immediately. Next to every line in the result list, there’s a “Profile” button, to be linked to information about the company, like name and address, furnaces, products, contacts.

That way, users of the plants site find target groups within a minute, and they can contact e.g. managers, purchasers, technical directors etc. directly out of the tool. This is a highly effective and comfortable way to discover market opportunities.


All glass plants in the tool are programmed with degrees of latitude and longitude. Another effective tool is a map that shows all glass producing companies from the database in a world map. To change the clarity, plant locations can be displayed individually or in clusters. Users can zoom in the map to see plants in a certain region. A list for the selection of target countries is available. By clicking one country, the map zooms automatically to the target country and shows the glass plants therein as factory symbols. By clicking one of the symbols, users are guided to a company profile, with the same information like in the result list of the filter described above.

With glass production data, import and export data, glassglobal have prepared country profiles with information about the respective glass consumption in total and per capita. With the expected change in population, users can evaluate the future glass consumption. Having the current local glass production summarised too, they can estimate the countries with potential new glass plants.

In the study, several chapters are discussed with information e.g. about glass chemistry, raw materials, the manufacturing process of glass containers, production cost of glass containers, emissions, recycling and heat recovery.

AVAILABLE ON PC’S, NOTEBOOKS, TABLET PC’S AND MOBILE PHONES was programmed responsively. No matter what device users select, the site is visible and usable. It works also with devices being equipped with touchscreen displays.


Whether it is technical information, market data, project information or a glass producer’s database. Whether users access the site with stationary or mobile devices, provides it all. On request, interested persons can browse the site together with a representative of the provider during a telecon, both being logged in, to see and evaluate the content and ease of use.
