Saudi Arabia's National Company for Glass Industries, Zoujaj, has been working to restore a production line at its Riyadh manufacturing facility following a fire that temporarily disrupted operations.

The fire occurred at one of the company's production lines in Riyadh in late 2025. Zoujaj said at the time that the incident was contained within minutes by its safety team, with no injuries reported and no material impact on the company's other production lines. Initial estimates placed repair costs at SAR 1.3 million, while losses resulting from the production interruption were estimated at approximately SAR 2.9 million.

In an update provided in May 2026, Zoujaj Chairman Omar Al Humaidan said that the affected production line was undergoing maintenance. The temporary shutdown reduced the company's overall production capacity by approximately 20%.

At that stage, Zoujaj expected commercial operations on the affected line to resume during the second quarter of 2026. Al Humaidan also stated that the value of the insurance compensation related to the incident would be determined following the completion of the repairs and the restart of operations.

The operational impact of the fire was also reflected in Zoujaj's 2025 financial results. In its official disclosure to the Saudi Exchange, the company cited the temporary suspension of one production line following the fire as one of the factors contributing to the year on year decline in net profit.

Zoujaj operates glass container production facilities in Saudi Arabia and supplies glass packaging for food, beverage and other applications. According to the company, its Saudi operations have an annual glass production capacity of approximately 135,000 tonnes.
