After conducting an exceptional fundraising campaign, Duralex is now launching a solidarity fundraiser. The French glassworks company has managed to survive bankruptcy proceedings but needs to complete its fundraising efforts. Those who make a donation will be rewarded with a gift in kind, whether it be a glass, a mug, or a gift voucher.
Duralex is a glassware brand that the French don't want to do without. The company launched a solidarity fundraising campaign. In November, it raised 20 million euros in financial pledges from 20,000 people during a fundraising drive. However, this was capped at 5 million euros, as reported by Le Parisien. Another 3 million euros were collected after a second round of additional funding was opened. Those who wish to support the company behind the iconic glasses now have until February 15 to donate on the Efferve'sens platform. The day after its launch, the fundraiser had already raised 14,500 euros in donations out of the 200,000 euros hoped for in the first phase.
Donors will be rewarded with gifts in kind, such as bowls, mugs, or even packs of glasses to pick up at the Duralex store in Orléans. The most generous donors can even win shopping vouchers. A donation of 750 euros or more will grant them a voucher worth 100 euros, a significant sum to spend at this store, where a pack of six of the famous transparent glasses is sold for under 16 euros. If donors do not come to pick up their gifts, they will be donated to the Orléans-based recycling center, AAA.
A Touching Story
The story of Duralex is particularly moving, which may explain the success of its fundraising efforts and campaigns. In fact, the company was taken over by its employees in 2024 in the form of a SCOP (worker cooperative) after going into bankruptcy proceedings. Additionally, these are the glasses many French people have used in school cafeterias, often trying to guess their age by looking at the number printed at the bottom of the glass. These small numbers actually serve to identify the mold number. Duralex is also committed to creating a new mold for every 200,000 euros raised.
