Turkish-headquartered glass manufacturer Şişecam outlines its history as it celebrates this milestone.
The company was founded in 1935 by one of Türkiye's first national banks, İş Bankası, which was mandated by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
It began as producer of oil lamps and medicine bottles, with 400 employees.
Today, it is a global organisation with 47 production facilities across four continents.
The company's workforce has increased to 23,000, with employees representing 34 nationalities and speaking 23 languages.
With investments in glass and chemicals, advanced technologies, and R&D, Şişecam is major global producer in its sectors.
It operates across all core glass areas, including glassware and chromium chemicals, flat glass and glass packaging, and soda ash.
The company aims to become one of the top three global players in its main business areas.
It will also continue to focus on sustainable growth and value creation.
