NRW-Ministerpräsident Hendrik Wüst besuchte gestern Vorreiter-Unternehmen bei der Transformation zur klimaneutralen Industrie. Seine Informationsreise führte ihn auch in das Floatwerk der Pilkington Deutschland AG nach Gladbeck.
Hendrik Wüst sprach u. a. mit Dr. Christian Quenett, Vorstand der Pilkington Deutschland AG, und Michael Kiefer, Vorsitzender der Geschäftsführung der Pilkington Holding GmbH, über die besonderen Herausforderungen für die Glasindustrie und über innovative Projekte zur Dekarbonisierung der Glasherstellung. Neben Informationsgesprächen stand auch ein Rundgang durch die Floatglasproduktion auf dem Programm.
Im Hinblick auf die Dekarbonisierungsstrategie der NSG Group wurden am Standort bereits verschiedene Projekte angestoßen. So werden beispielsweise beide Glaswannen mit elektrischen Zusatzbeheizungen mit grünem Strom betrieben, um den Einsatz fossiler Energie zu reduzieren. Alle Anlagen und Aggregate an den Standorten der NSG Group in Deutschland werden bereits seit einigen Jahren zu 100 Prozent mit Ökostrom versorgt. Ende 2021 hat das Werk Gladbeck seine Anstrengungen auf dem Weg zur Klimaneutralität noch einmal intensiviert und seine Roadmap aktualisiert. Vor allem die langfristige Umstellung von Erdgas auf grünen Wasserstoff ist ein wichtiges Projekt, das aufgrund der hohen Komplexität von Kaltreparaturen frühzeitig geplant werden muss. Voraussetzung hierfür ist die Anbindung an eine Wasserstoff-Pipeline für eine kontinuierliche Versorgung.
