Im Mai 2019 wurde RASTAL vom rheinlandpfälzischen Minister für Wirtschaft, Verkehr, Landwirtschaft und Weinbau, Volker Wissing, in Ludwigshafen auf einer Preisverleihung in der Kategorie Digitalisierung/ Industrie 4.0 anerkannt.
Der Innovationspreis des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz prämiert innovative Unternehmen des Landes, die mit ihren Ideen und Produkten die Zukunft innerhalb ihrer Branchen maßgeblich mitgestalten. Vor über 50 Jahren erfand das Familienunternehmen RASTAL das Marken-Exklusivglas – ein unverwechselbares Glasdesign für eine spezielle Marke. Seitdem nutzt die Getränkeindustrie das Marken-Exklusivglas als ein Instrument der Markenführung.
Mit der Digitalisierung des Trinkglases gelingt es RASTAL nun, das Marken-Exklusivglas auf das technologische Niveau der Zukunft zu heben und neue Mehrwerte zu erschließen. Kern des innovativen SMARTGLASS-Konzepts ist ein von RASTAL entwickeltes neuartiges Druckverfahren, das Glas und einen Transponder dauerhaft und spülmaschinenfest miteinander verbindet.
Das mit dem Transponder verbundene Trinkglas kann ohne App-Installation mit jedem NFC-fähigen Endgerät kommunizieren. NFC (Near Field Communication) ist ein Funkstandard zum drahtlosen Datenaustausch über eine geringe Distanz. Eine kurze Berührung des Smartphones bei eingeschaltetem NFC-Empfang an das Glas genügt, um die Mehrwerte zu erschließen. Jedes smarte Trinkglas besitzt eine weltweit einmalige Identität und ermöglicht eine Echtzeit-Vernetzung von Konsument, Gastronomie und Getränkehersteller. Das schafft Mehrwerte auf vielen Ebenen. Die Anwendungen reichen von der digitalen Pfandführung für Mehrwegsysteme über kontrollierte Selbstbedienungs- und bargeldlose Bezahllösungen, Echtzeit-Füllstandsmessung bis hin zu neuen Möglichkeiten der Kunden-interaktion über Gewinnspiele, Bonus- und Kundenbindungssysteme oder Produkttests.
