Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Otsu, Shiga, Japan; President: Akira Kishimoto; hereinafter “NEG”) has announced that its Nano-texturing Technology “nanoWave™” has been adopted for glass film for iPad by Trinity Corporation (Head Office: Niiza, Saitama, Japan; President: Yohei Yamamoto; hereinafter “Trinity”). Orders for this product will begin through the Trinity Online Store on Friday, May 29, 2026.

About NEG’s Nano-texturing Technology “nanoWave™”

nanoWave™ is NEG’s proprietary processing technology that uniformly forms nanometer-scale fine textures on glass surfaces. Conventional paper-like films have faced issues such as screen clouding that results in low transparency, susceptibility to scratches during use that causes the drawing feel to degrade over time, and pen tip wear. nanoWave™ addresses these issues, achieving both a comfortable drawing feel and high durability while maintaining exceptionally high transparency.

  • Nano-level textures reproduce the “moderate resistance” felt when writing on paper with a pencil.
  • By optimizing the height and density of the fine textures, nanoWave™ disperses contact with the pen tip and reduces wear.
  • nanoWave™ controls light scattering, which causes screen haze* and glare, maintaining a previously unattained level of high transparency with haze of 3% or less. In addition, because the fine textures are formed directly on the high-hardness glass substrate, the surface is resistant to scratches even after long-term use, and the drawing feel does not degrade.

*Haze: An indicator of the degree of blurriness when viewing through a transparent material.
The lower the value, the clearer it appears; the higher the value, the cloudier it appears.
