, Grenzebach

Grenzebach Corporation takes over the assets and IP of New Hudson, a well-known manufacturer and maintenance service provider for annealing lehr rollers.

With the asset acquisition, Grenzebach strengthens its position in the Hot End and expands its service portfolio.

Customers with New Hudson rollers in their float lines benefit from supply security and a unique combination of equipment and service expertise.

Newnan/USA. Effective September 30th, Grenzebach Corporation in Newnan, Georgia, has acquired the assets and intellectual property (IP) of New Hudson, a recognized supplier in the design, manufacturing, and maintenance of annealing lehr rollers.

For over 60 years, New Hudson has been a leading supplier of annealing lehr rollers, with thousands of rollers installed in more than 250 float glass lines worldwide. The company has built a strong reputation for reliability and technical excellence within the global glass industry.

By taking over New Hudson’s service portfolio and combining it with Grenzebach’s long-standing expertise in annealing lehr manufacturing, the company is creating efficient, reliable, and fully integrated one-stop solutions for customers in the Hot End.

“This strategic acquisition is fully aligned with our From Hot to Cold strategy. Building on our expertise as a manufacturer of annealing lehrs, we aim to provide customers with a powerful range of solutions from a single source—offering reliable support throughout the entire cooling channel process.”

Future Service Offerings by Grenzebach

With the integration of New Hudson, Grenzebach is continuing the reliable continuation of New Hudson’s proven service standards. The offering encompasses the entire service cycle of annealing lehr rollers, from cleaning and refinishing to maintenance and the supply of spare parts.

In detail, Grenzebach will continue to provide the well-known on-site Roller Cleaning Service, a safe and effective process for removing SO₂ and tin deposits from stainless steel lehr rollers without interrupting production. This method is an efficient way to immediately restore roller performance and improve glass quality during ongoing operation. In addition, Stainless Steel Lehr Roller Refinishing will be carried out at Grenzebach’s Newnan, Georgia, facility, where roller surfaces are restored to their original condition.

Complementing these services, Grenzebach offers maintenance services designed to minimize downtime and ensure reliable, long-term operation of annealing lehrs. Customers can rely on an experienced service team, which also includes selected former technical experts from New Hudson itself. Furthermore, Grenzebach guarantees a secure supply of spare parts, offering both stocked and made-to-order rings, donuts, and other roller components for all sizes.

“Through the combination of New Hudson’s long-standing experience and Grenzebach’s global infrastructure, customers benefit from a complete service solution that enhances operational reliability. For existing New Hudson customers, we will continue to deliver the same trusted quality and reliability with which our customers have become accustomed,” adds John Fluker.

Next Steps

The integration of New Hudson will be driven forward in the coming weeks and months. However, Grenzebach is already prepared to accept customer inquiries and service requests. Additionally, Greg Winberg and Bill Flowers, seasoned experts in New Hudson, will continue to support customer projects as part of the Grenzebach team, ensuring an efficient transfer of knowledge and continuity in customer support.
