Glassman Europe deemed a success

, Glass International

Visitors from a host of French glass manufacturers attended the Glassman Europe show in Lyon on May 6 and 7th.

Staff from Arc International, Verallia, Stoelzle, Ardagh and the world’s largest container manufacturer, O-I, all visited the event.

Other manufacturers represented at the event included Bormioli Rocco, Corning, Ekran, Vetropack, Carib Glass and Yioula Glass.

Total number of visitors was 637 plus a number of media representatives from newspapers and television.

The regional television channel France 3 featured the O-I Labegude site in a programme the night before Glassman and included an interview with Iris Inspection Machines CEO Jean-Luc Logel about the regional glass manufacturing industry.

The more than 60 exhibitors – all suppliers to the hollow and container glass manufacturing industry – came from Europe and the Americas and included Iris Inspection Machines, Zippe, Heye International, Italy’s All Glass, BDF, Pennine Industrial and Sorg.

The two-day conference remained full for its entire duration with standing-room only for most of the papers.

O-I France and Spain Country executive Francois Pierrot provided the opening, keynote speech at the conference and further papers were provided by glass container association FEVE, recycling association FERVER, the Container Glass Alliance, Food Packaging Forum, manufacturers Bormioli Rocco, Ardagh, Stoelzle, raw materials analysts IHS as well as from suppliers including BDF, Heye International and Praxair.

A review of the event will appear in a forthcoming issue of Glass International.
