CelSian Academy has launched GlassBot, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) assistant designed to enhance its General Glass Technology course.
Recognising the growing need for accessible and reliable expertise, CelSian Academy created GlassBot.
GlassBot uses a familiar language model interface with access to deep knowledge on glass technology.
It is designed as a companion to CelSian’s General Glass Technology course, providing participants with access to the insights found in the ‘Glass Technology Handbook’.
The handbook covers everything from raw materials and melting to colour, redox, and furnace design.
Sjoerd Stelwagen, CelSian Academy Leader, said: “GlassBot bridges the gap between training and application.
“It ensures participants always have access to reliable, structured information from our Glass Technology Handbook, right when they need it.”
In today’s fast-paced production environments, engineers and operators often require quick and clear answers on the job.
GlassBot was designed to meet that need, turning the handbook into an interactive, on-demand resource for those who complete the course.
For newcomers, it acts as a personal mentor, reinforcing what they learnt during the sessions.
For experienced engineers, it serves as an efficient reference tool, ensuring that the latest and most accurate information is always within reach.
Mr Sjoerd said: “It is a fact that AI is changing the way we work, not just in office environments, but it will change the way we work on shopfloors as well."
Mr Sjoerd took over leadership of the Academy in 2025, bringing with him years of hands-on experience from Ardagh Glass and a strong background in chemical engineering.
Since joining CelSian in 2021, he has combined practical furnace expertise with a passion for knowledge sharing.
As one of the key trainers at the CelSian Academy, he has helped professionals connect theory to practice in many courses over the past few years.
The Academy’s mission is as follows: to future-proof the glass industry by striking the right balance between technology, sustainability, and human expertise.
Mr Sjoerd said: “Our goal is to make learning continuous.
“With GlassBot, the learning doesn’t stop when the course ends; it evolves with you."
