Good basis. For great plans!
Float glass is an alkali-lime scale glass, which is plane and transparent. The molten glass is poured onto a tin batch (float process), through which it receives its even and glossy surface. Floatglass is also available in several colors, and as glass which is especially low in iron, it is also known as clear glass.

Predominantly, float glass serves as a basis for further processing for functional glasses. By applying special plating, it is further processed into mirrors.

The float glass is especially important, when it is plated with a coat of tin and silver, utilizing the Sputter-method through a high performance source. This glass is solely used for further processing into thermal insulation and solar glass, as it is demanded by the new Energy Saving Regulation.
