Viracon Holds Ground Breaking Ceremony for New FacilityViracon, the world´s leading architectural glass fabricator, officially began construction of its new St. George, Utah, facility with a ground breaking ceremony at the new facility´s site, 1630 East Park Industrial Drive (4500 South), Ft. Pierce Industrial park. Speakers included St. George Mayor Daniel D. McArthur, Don Pyatt, Viracon´s president, Bill Wright, vice president of manufacturing for the new facility and Jeff Edwards, president and CEO of the Economic Development Corporation of Utah. Carol Sapp, executive director of the Southern Utah Home Builders Association and chair of the Washington County Economic Development Council, introduced the speakers to the audience of government and community dignitaries. Architectural firm MRW Design, Inc., of St. George, designed the $25 million facility, and Watts Construction, also of St. George, is the general contractor. This new facility will increase Viracon´s glass fabrication capacity by approximately $40 million at full capacity. The facility will open in April 2007, with approximately 150 employees. When fully operational (within three years), the facility will employ between 250-300 employees.
