START-UP OF THE FIRST FURNACE WITH FUEL/OXY FIRING...AT VERRERIE DU LANGUEDOC (PERRIER VITTEL France)
PERRIER VITTEL France entrusted STEIN HEURTEY with the conversion of its No. 1 furnace of 360 t/day to fuel/oxygen firing. This rebuild took place in the course of July and August 2001 with an effective start-up on September 16th.
In addition to the supply of a part of the equipment, STEIN HEURTEY was in charge of the coordination and of the demolition and rebuild of the furnace.
Within this very tight schedule, a great part of the steel structures was rebuilt to improve the furnace design :
- reduced melting surface,
- optimised electric boosting in partnership with PENELECTRO (www.penelectro.com)
- change to fused-cast refractories for the crown.
Today this bottle glass furnace of 360 t/day is the major fuel/oxygen firing reference in France.
