Solutia´s Vanceva(R) Laminated Glass Brings Unique Glazing to Predator Coachwork
Solutia Automotive, leading supplier of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) to the automotive industry, has provided Silver Ash Vanceva(R) Laminated Glass for the front doors, two sets of rear doors, and backlite of Predator Coachworks´ XTRV pre-production prototype. The unique glazing is one of an endless number of super-luxury appointments on the vehicle. Predator Coachworks is based in DuBois, Pennsylvania.
"The benefits that laminated glass brings, such as intrusion resistance, noise reduction, UV protection and aesthetics, will enable Predator Coachworks to truly differentiate their vehicle´s value within the marketplace," said Diane Romine, market development director, Automotive Aftermarket, for Solutia. "We are excited to be able to provide these solutions for the XTRV pre-production prototype."
The benefits of Vanceva(R) Laminated Glass enhance the look and functionality of the glass far above what is possible with tempered glass. The interlayer in Vanceva(R) makes the glass much more secure than tempered glass -- it takes up to 30 seconds longer to break into a vehicle with laminated glass versus traditional tempered glass. The Silver Ash color provides a distinguished look to the vehicle, and since the PVB is sandwiched between the glass, Vanceva(R) Laminated Glass has many advantages over traditional post-applied films, which can scratch or peel. The glass offers protection from 95 percent of UV rays, protecting the luxurious materials appointing the interior of the vehicles. Laminated glass also provides a reduction in wind and road noise entering the vehicle, making for a quieter ride.
