SCHOTT Electronic Packaging to launch Aspherical Lens Caps

In a move to provide its international customers in the data and telecommunications fields with more complete solutions from a single vendor, SCHOTT Electronic Packaging has announced the introduction of Aspherical Lens Caps. This new product has a low Tg glass molded asphere sealed into a machined body (typically TO cap) using low temperature solder glass technology, which is well proven and established in the industry.
According to Rohit Bhosale, R&D Manager of the Opto-Electronics Division at SCHOTT Electronic Packaging Asia in Singapore, Aspherical Lens Caps round off the company’s range of products that currently includes TO headers, TO caps and microelectronic packages based on glass-to-metal and ceramic-to-metal sealing technologies. “More and more of our customers in the industry are seeking to leverage the synergies that arise from one-stop shopping. In addition, because SCHOTT already has considerable expertise in areas like hermetic sealing and optical glass, the decision to also offer high quality molded aspheres that are sealed with low temperature solder glass is really quite natural,” he adds.

The new Aspherical Lens Caps are unique due to the fact that they can be customizable with minimal mold tooling adaptation or modifications. In addition, customers have access to a variety of SCHOTT’s proprietary low Tg glasses as well as technical support for their optical designs.
