Sales of soft drinks in glass increasedConsumption of soft drinks in glass packages increased a 19%, up to 667 million of bottles last year, according to results provided by the Spanish National Association of Automated Glass Manufacturers (ANFEVI). This spectacular growth, which represents more than 100 million glass packages more than in 2005, confirms what a previous study carried out by the Institute of Profiles for Anfevi, which revealed that 63% of Spanish consumers prefer glass containers to other packaging materials. The most popular drinks are still the cola flavoured beverages, which represent a 53% of the market. However, last year sales decrease by one point, giving way to new tastes and energy drinks. Other drinks also registered good figures; tropical drinks reached a production of 5 million litres, mixed flavours 3.4 million and fruit drinks 3.3 million litres.
