Safety and Security Films with 3M

3M Safety and Security Films offer property and personal protection against crime, violent weather, explosions, fires or vandalism.

Adhesive bond

3M Scotchshield Safety and Security films use 3Mīs proprietary adhesive technology to bond tightly to the glass. This helps hold shattered glass in place and helps reduce the dangers associated with breakage and flying glass. The end result is a clean, easy and highly effective installation without bubbling, blistering or wrinkling.

Safety against crime, injury and violent weather

The benefits of 3M Scotchshield Safety and Security Films include:

  • Penetration and tear-resistant to deter smash-and-grab crimes. Since time and stealth are vital, thieves usually give up quickly.
  • Reduces the chance of serious injury from indoor accidents like children running into doors and windows.
  • Holds glass in place during violent weather, earthquakes, even bomb blasts and other explosions.
  • Provides added protection for personal safety and valuables.

Cross-directional structure

3M spent 7 years developing its wide range of patented security films and thin micro-layered design. The 3M Safety and Security films can have up to 39 layers in a cross-directional weave, invisible to the naked eye. This design is amazingly effective, proven to be 130 times more resistant to tearing than similar films.

Also, in an impact test comparison with other films of the same thickness, competitive films can only withstand 150lbs of impact, whilst 3M Scotchshield Safety and Security films withstand impacts up to 400lbs.

UV protection

The sunīs Ultra-Violet rays are a major contributor to fading. Carpeting, panelling, desks, drapes and upholstered furniture represents a sizeable investment that can quickly lose value when damaged by prolonged exposure to the sun. 3M Scotchshield films filter out up to 99% of the harmful UV rays, considerably reducing the effects of fading and ensuring furnishings are better protected.

Ultraflex sealant system

In installations where security is paramount, sometimes film alone is not enough. The reason for this is that the only weak point on a window with security film installed, is where the film meets the frame. The optional Ultraflex Sealant System is designed specifically to target this weak point.

A specially formulated adhesive is applied to the film, glass and frame thereby holding the glass and film to the frame even if the glass is broken by extra force through kicking, pushing or pulling. The adhesive will replace the window gasket and looks as good as the gasket is replaces.

3M Scotchshield Safety and Security films are available in clear or tinted versions through Sunscreen from Sunscreen Window Tinting.
