Rosanna brings a touch of class to recycled glass

The etched eco-conscious collections add color to your summer table

Eco-conscious consumers who also like pretty tableware will be happy to know that all those empty Coca-Cola bottles in Mexico don´t just get thrown into a landfill. Instead, they´re being recycled into dazzling, etched-glass pieces for your summer table.

Local dishware diva Rosanna Bowles has designed three gorgeous recycled-glass collections made by artisans in Guanajuato, Mexico. "I wanted to do a truly recycled product that created jobs and was made in an artisan-friendly country," says the artist, world traveler, entrepreneur and mother.

And if one of the lovely glass pieces should happen to break? "What a freeing idea," says Bowles. "If you break one of these glasses, just recycle it back again."

The collections are not inexpensive, however, so you´ll probably want to do your best to keep them from crashing to the floor. Prices range from $60 for a 2-quart pitcher and $80 for a hurricane vase to $96 for six votives, old fashioned-style glasses or tumblers.

Mondo Glass is a beautiful shade of peridot green with etchings influenced by Indian, Balinese and Greek design. The swirly paisley etchings in Darjeeling Glass were inspired by Indian saris and textiles, and come in an enchanting London-blue topaz. And Beach Cottage Glass has floral etchings that stand out vividly against deep ocean blue.
