PPG auto glass unit becomes Pittsburgh Glass WorksPPG Industries Inc.’s automotive glass business will be rechristened Pittsburgh Glass Works as of Aug. 1. Earlier this month, PPG agreed to sell the majority stake in its auto glass business to New York private equity group Kohlberg & Co. LLC. PPG has said it plans to close the deal this quarter. The name change and new yellow-and-black logo is one of the first steps in rebranding the auto glass business as its own separate entity apart from PPG. “(The new name) builds on the image and heritage that Pittsburgh was the center of glassmaking — even before PPG’s establishment in the industry,” Frank Archinaco, who continues as president and CEO of the newly-named Pittsburgh Glass Works, said in a statement. New signage and trademark changes on products will begin to appear next month and will likely take more than a year to complete, according to Pittsburgh Glass Works. 30.07.2008, PPG Industries, Inc.
