New Development for LCD FLOAT®

A device for transferring glass melt from process area to a float bath has a direct heated platinum feed pipe at a level above the level of the float bath and a transition ramp (spout lip) from the level of the platinum feed pipe to the level of the float bath.

In order to design a device of this type in such a way that it can also produce alumino-borosilicate glass with a distinctly higher temperature, such as those used for LCD flat screens, with thermal and chemical homogeneity and high optical quality, a transition pipe is provided, between the platinum feed pipe and the spout lip, which widens in the shape of a funnel in the flow direction and can be directly heated by an electric current.
