Latest solutions to streamline glass production

Linde Gas and OGIS GmbH to host two-day seminar in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to demonstrate the latest advances in CGM designed to help glass manufacturers speed production, minimise costs, raise quality and reduce pollution.

Linde Gas announced that it will host a two-day seminar on advanced glass melting technologies in Sao Paulo, Brazil on August 29th and 30th, 2007. With support from its strategic partner, OGIS GmbH, the event will show new ways to optimise glass production via OGE, a web-based process parameters analysing tool for glass manufacturers

Linde´s new CGM technology transfers more energy to the glass melt by positioning the burner vertically instead of horizontally, thereby enhancing heat transfer by adding convection to the regular radiant transfer.

The new technologies presented at the event will assist glass manufacturers streamline the glass production process and address important challenges such as cost optimisation, accelerating production times while minimising environmental pollution.

Senior experts from Linde Gas Headquarters will demonstrate the innovative technologies and will be joined by a panel of distinguished guest speakers who will talk about the latest advances in glass melting technologies. Speakers will include:

• Bill Johnson, Project Engineering Manager for LP Displays, will speak about the two CGM installations already in operation there and explain how CGM is delivering value to his business
• Ian Shulver, Principal Technologist, Building Products R&D, of Pilkington in the UK will talk about his experience with the CGM installation, explaining the return on investment and advantages from a customer perspective.

Presentation of new Online Engineering Tool
Additionally, the seminar showcases the new Online Glass Engineering tool, OGE, which is a result of the combined know-how and experience of Linde Gas and OGIS GmbH, operator of the biggest glass portal worldwide with over 1.2 million page impressions a month. It allows the user to increase productivity of the production process by analyzing, planning and monitoring all process parameters online. So far, 25 glass manufacturers from South America and Mexico have confirmed their participation, but there still are vacancies left. The seminar takes place in the Blue Tree Convention Ibirapuera on August 29th and 30th, 2007.
