International Rosenheim Door Conference 2008

Pedestrian and industrial doors - Future perspectives

For the 5th time, the manufacturers of pedestrian and industrial doors and their suppliers meet again in Rosenheim on 29 and 30 May 2008. The motto of this year´s event is „Pedestrian and industrial doors - Future perspectives".

The conference will update delegates on the latest trends and developments in the pedestrian and industrial door industry helping them to choose their „future perspective". Renowned speakers will cover key issues such as "Home life of the future" as well as „Sustainable Construction" and their impact on the industry.

Pedestrian and industrial doors for new markets - this is the challenge the door industry has to face. From simple, low-cost doors meeting low requirements to the multifunctional door with exacting requirements for safety, security, sound insulation, design and comfort - all this is in demand. Thanks to the high performance level of the industry, sophisticated technical solutions can be offered throughout the world. This is the objective of this year´s pedestrian and industrial door conference organized by the ift Rosenheim - informing on the key trends and issues in technology, design and standardization, including customer requirements and the demands of the most important European markets. 26 presentations will discuss the following key issues of the industry:

  • Impact of new technology and legal requirements on our products,

  • Market trends, design trends and export opportunities in Europe,

  • New materials and construction processes for hardware systems and bonding,

  • Products for "Energy efficiency upgrade of buildings",

  • Special products such as tunnel doors, fire doors and special doors,

  • Latest solutions for high-tech doors and automation of innovative buildings.

The session "Hardware and security" covers the amendments to the series of standards on burglar resistance (EN V 1627) in Europe and the market trends for hardware designed for pedestrian and industrial doors. Further discussions focus on the requirements for tunnel doors as well as the implementation, and limitations, of doors with extraordinary and widely varying performance requirements.

The session „Automation of pedestrian and industrial doors" addresses the safety in use of power-operated components and the latest European standards for industrial and commercial doors. Environment and hygiene are covered by the presentation by the construction industry on sustainable construction

The manufacturers of external pedestrian doors will soon be allowed to affix the CE mark to their products. This session will illustrate various alternatives to facilitate CE marking and the relevant rules for the substitution of supplied parts.

A further key issue is the product standard EN 14351-2 for internal pedestrian door sets and its state of play. Experts will address the requirements for internal pedestrian doorsets using the example of selected export markets and will cover updates for the amended German standard DIN 4109 "Acoustic insulation in building construction".

A diversion from the theoretical part will come in the form of an interesting invitation by the ift to visit its laboratories. The programme is rounded off with a social evening in Bavarian style on the first day of the conference with time and opportunity for sharing ideas and discussing the presentations given. All in all we again expect more than 300 delegates to attend this event with its focus on Europe.
