Industry to discuss upcoming bottleneck for solar glass

After the silicon feedstock shortage has been haunting the photovoltaic (PV) industry for a few years, the next big bottleneck seems to be already looming on the horizon: The production capacities for special white glass are not growing as quickly as solar module factories.

With the bulk of solar module production expansion taking place in Asia, the publishers of the leading PV industry magazine PHOTON International have put together a special event focusing on solar glass, an essential component for assembling PV modules. The 1st PV Glass Conference is a half-day event, which will be held in Shenzhen, China on January 18, 2008. The conference addresses executives and technology experts from solar module companies as well as the glass industry.

For PHOTON´s Shenzhen conference we have invited representatives from the leading global solar glass companies to present their views on the supply situation for special solar glass. In addition, engineering companies and scientists will talk about processes, planning and construction of glass factories. Finally, a panel will discuss global demand and supply for solar glass. The conference language is English.

Registration for the 1st PV Glass Conference includes conference entry, food and drink during the conference, and conference documentation. The registration fee is 260 Euro (PHOTON International subscribers pay just 210 Euro). We will offer an optional evening reception on Jan. 15 at an additional charge of 68 Euro. All prices are before taxes.

The 1st PV Glass Conference is one of a series of conferences that will be held in conjunction with the 2nd PHOTON Photovoltaic Technology Show, a trade fair for companies offering manufacturing equipment or the material needed for producing solar silicon, ingots, wafers, cells and solar modules (www.photon-expo.com/en/pts_2008_asia). A combined conference ticket (excl. dinner) for the 5th Solar Silicon Conference, the 2nd PV Investors Conference, the 2nd PV Production Equipment Conference, and the 1st PV Glass Conference costs 1,500 Euro (PHOTON International subscribers pay just 1,300 Euro) - that´s a 10 percent discount compared to orders of individual conference tickets.
