“Improved Glass melting through oxy-fuel technologies” in Sao Paulo, Brazil
Linde Gas hosted a seminar to demonstrate the latest advances in the patented CGMTM Advanced Glass Melting technology to help glass manufacturers speed production, minimise costs, raise quality and reduce pollution.
The main focus of the seminar lay in the demonstration of the latest advances in CGMTM. This technology has been proven in multiple installations to deliver better heat transfer, improved quality, increased pull and decreased NOx emissions compared to conventional side wall boost. To date, most applications have been directed toward extending furnace life, but manufacturers are increasingly adapting the technology early in a furnace´s campaign to improve quality and increase productivity. The participants replied in unanimous conclusion that this technology is extremely forward-looking and state-of-the-art.
The Online Glass Engineering (OGE) program of glassglobal.com with its features and options of energy balance calculation, furnace control, systematic data recording, evaluationperformance monitoring and feedback to the operator was equally evaluated as very sophisticated and numerous participants confirmed that they consider its application in their company as being strongly recommended. The program is available online at www.glassglobal.com/engineering with a test version for personal evaluation. Both technologies (, CGMTM and OGE) and CGMTM in particular, contribute to energy-saving and eco-friendly production and successful expansion of the glass industry.
The seminar questionnaire summary showed that 90% of the participants rated this event as very informative and valuable, with CGRMTM rated with top marks for its technology and OGE for its energy balance calculation with integrated furnace control. The concluding question time substantiated the interest of the participants in the technologies presented and their positive response is the proof that this kind of events is crucial for technical progress.
