Guardian plant set to undergo major expansionGuardian Industries is preparing an $80 million (£40.8 million) extension of its glass making plant in California. Production on the line has halted and the firm will begin its expansion work shortly, increasing the company“s glass making capabilities as well as reducing emissions, the Kingsburg Recorder reports. Guardian will invest $10 million (£5 million) on new equipment which should help the company reduce emissions by up to 50 per cent. Marty Bergman, engineering manager of the company, confirmed that the move would be kind to the environment. He told the publication: "In the future, we“ll produce a lot more glass, but have half the emissions." And commenting on the claims that it might have been cheaper for Guardian to build a new factory, rather then revamp the existing 30-year-old one, general manager Don Tullman revealed that he didn“t want to uproot his staff.
