Glass World Expo 2008

Chameleon Business Media, publisher of Glass Worldwide, is very proud to have been confirmed as the official international media partner for the new Glass World Expo 2008 Exhibition and Conference.

Glass World Expo 2008 will take place in Mumbai, India on 8-9 January 2008 and is the only event in the Indian sub-continent to have the official support of the All India Glass Manufacturers Federation (AIGMF).

The event will be staged by Services International, India´s leading professional exhibition conference organisers and formerly the representative in India for all six of the Glass India events that took place between 1995-2006. In March, the organisers of the Glass India events informed their customers that they would not be staging Glass India 2008, after the AIGMF withdrew their support in favour of forming a partnership with Services International and Chameleon to stage Glass World Expo 2008.

In previous employment, members of the publishing and events team of Chameleon Business Media were also directly involved with the organisation of all six successful Glass India events. Therefore, potential visitors and exhibitors to Glass World Expo 2008 can be assured that Chameleon´s new allegiance with Services International and the AIGMF will ensure that the event maintains and improves upon the level of quality, comfort and security that they traditionally associated with previous Indian glass events.

Indeed, Glass World Expo 2008 is primed to become the Asia Pacific´s leading glass event, attracting visitors from not only the Indian sub-continent but from throughout the world. Container and flat glass manufacturers and processors who are involved in identifying and purchasing machinery, equipment, raw materials and services will be presented with the latest technological innovations by global suppliers to the industry.

In conjunction with the exhibition, a conference organised by the AIGMF will focus on business and technical aspects, with useful and interesting lectures and topical sessions on the state of the industry and its future. Having celebrated its diamond jubilee last year, the AIGMF has been promoting the cause of all segments of the local glass industry since its inception in 1944.

The success of Glass World Expo 2008 will be reflected by the forecasts of future market growth throughout India and surrounding territories. The AIGMF reports that container glass production more than doubled from approximately 800,000 tonnes in 1997-98 to 1.7 million tonnes in 2004-5. Increased demand from the construction and automotive sectors has also led to flat glass production increasing via the establishment of new float lines.
