Glass technology company to expand Danville facilityGovernor Tim Kaine´s office says Corning plans to invest 12 (m) million dollars to expand its specialty materials facility in Danville. Kaine´s office says the decision should create 50 jobs. The glass and fiber optics company will expand its Danville operations to add new products. That includes a polarized glass product used in laser telecommunications. The decision brings jobs to an area that has suffered from the decline of U-S furniture and textile production. Danville´s September unemployment rate was more than double the state´s rate at 7-point-9 percent.
