Fluorine free OPAL-GLASS production

Philips Lighting Winschoten has developed pellets for opal-glass production without Fluorine emission. Production of opal-glass is usually done with fluorine as seed for crystal growth. During the melting phase of the glass fluorine will partly escape from the glass melt and pollute the environment.
They have extended their pellet-range for hand-blown opal-glass production with pellets type PH2524. Advantages of using PH2524 pellets;
PH2524
No fluorine emission during melting. No Arsenic emission, no lead emission.
Better crystal homogeneity than fluorine based batches.
High intensity "opal white" allows thin glass-sheets (low material usage).
Raw material available in pellets; every time you use these pellets you will have the assurance of having the same batch composition.
PH2524 pellets can be used the same as fluorine based batches. Some of Philips customers even could decrease their melting temperature and therefore reduce energy costs and extend melting-pot lifetime.
PH2524 is very well used in combination with PH2990 Studio SL Bright pellets. The picture above shows PH2524 used in a sandwich construction with PH2504 (blue) and PH2990 glass.
Using these pellets gives convenient feeling of having a supplier that understands production. Extended knowledge resources help optimising production. Philips Lighting Winschoten is able to provide tailor made solutions.
