This new EGLASSTREK concept relates to a new already proved stirrer chamber design for stirring molten glass thereby to improve its uniformity and to reduce discontinuities such as cords in it.

A Platinum Group Metals (PGM) stirring chamber has the task of producing a chemical and temperature homogeneous glass melt. Especially for the production of LCD FLOAT® and Overflow-Fusion process, total homogeneity of the glass melt is necessary, a condition which can be reach through intensive stirring.

The special construction of the stirring chamber (modular tailored technique) and the stirrer itself guarantees that every particle of the glass melt will be subject to maximum shear force within the stirrer cell. In order to reach a cord-free and temperature-homogenous quality of the glass melt, intensive stirring of the alkali-free glass melt should take certain minutes. Most equipments till 40 t/day consist of a double stirrer chamber. For more than 40 t/day the described concept can be adapted.
