Balcke-Dürr took on the operations of MCE Energietechnik Vienna

MCE AG, a company of the Andlinger & Company Group, and Balcke-Dürr GmbH, a company of the SPX Corporation, USA, had signed a contract on selling the business of MCE Energietechnik GmbH & Co. KG, Vienna, to Balcke-Dürr. The sale, which was subject to the approval of the anti-trust agency, was being handled under an asset deal. Balcke-Dürr tppl on operations and the entire personnel of MCE Energietechnik; existing projects are to be completed - based on a cooperation agreement – by the staff taken on by Balcke-Dürr in the in the rest of the company. MCE Energietechnik is a leading engineering concern for the development and construction of power plants, heat recovery boilers as the key components of power plants and other components. With some 55 employees, it registered revenues of EUR 37.2 million in 2004. MCE focuses on combined plant construction and technical service. A prime focus for MCE´s corporate strategy are projects requiring both plant construction and service expertise. The Group, however, looks upon itself as a service and construction partner and not as a process provider or turnkey constructor. "Thanks to combining our Group´s extensive competence, this strategic alignment allows us to achieve distinct competitive advantages. Thus the pure power engineering plant construction business, in which we sometimes compete with our customers in other fields, no longer suits this portfolio," this was the reasoning of the Chief Executive of MCE AG, Dipl.-Ing. Hermann Lutzenberger, for the sale. Balcke-Dürr GmbH enlarges its European presence. "Aside from taking on product expertise for heat-recovery boiler technology, we will in future additionally market other Balcke-Dürr GmbH products from Vienna and strengthen our product-related service," says Dipl.-Ing.
