Asian glass makers meeting local demandA number of glassing firms across south east Asia are deciding to facilitate the regional need for glass rather than export to new markets such as Europe. Manufactures in Vietnam have become especially reluctant to export their products as the growth in regional demand, and the cost of transportation, have made supplying to new markets less profitable, Vietnam News reports. Le Minh Tuan, of the Vietnam Glass Association, revealed that the current situation in the marketplace would help local manufacturers thrive. He said: "Technological innovations, higher quality products and greater experience with strict export markets were the only ways for local glassmakers if they want to stay in business for a long time." 21.01.2008, UKGlassNetwork News material on the Site is copyright and belongs to the Company or to its third party news provider, and all rights are reserved.
