Apogee 2Q Profit Up 33 PercentApogee Enterprises Inc., which supplies glass for buildings, cars and other applications, said Wednesday its second-quarter profit surged 33 percent on higher sales to the company´s core architectural segment. Net income for the quarter ended Sept. 2 was $7.33 million, or 26 cents per share, compared with $5.51 million, or 20 cents per share. Sales gained 9 percent to $188.6 million from $173.7 million. "The nonresidential construction markets we serve remain strong, as seen in our backlog and bidding activity," said Russell Huffer, Apogee chairman and chief executive. "We are feeling good about the strength the architectural business is bringing to Apogee´s performance this fiscal year."
