Allen named Process and Technology Manager for AFG Coatings/Abingdon Operation Ed Wegener, Plant Manager AFG Coatings Abingdon, VA facility has announced that Bob Allen has been named Process and Technology Manager. A twenty-year veteran of the coating industry, Allen has served with such diverse companies as Eastman Kodak, Xerox, Viratec Thin Films and Bausch and Lomb. Most recently he was with Guardian Industries as a Senior Thin Films Engineer. He holds a B.S. in Physics from St. Lawrence University. In the Abingdon Coating Operation, Bob will have the primary responsibility of bringing up the coating process. He will be training process controllers and work closely with AFG’s Petaluma, CA Research and Development operation and suppliers to evaluate new technology and materials as they come available. Bob and his wife Nancy have recently relocated to Kingsport, TN. --------------------- Biggs named Maintenance and Engineering Manager for AFG Coatings/Abingdon Operation Ed Wegener, Plant Manager AFG Coatings Abingdon, VA facility, has announced that Eddie Biggs has been named Maintenance and Engineering Manager. Biggs, a six-year AFG employee, is relocating from AFG Coatings in Hampton, IA. Prior to coming to AFG, he spent eleven years with Courtalds Performance Films (now CP Films) as a Supervisor in maintenance of their roll-coating equipment. Biggs will be responsible for the Abingdon Coater start-up, training a new maintenance crew, maintaining a high level of equipment uptime and readiness, along with new equipment planning and installation. Eddie, his wife Cindy, and children Josh and Emily have relocated to the Bristol, VA area. --------------------- Haynes named Production Manager for AFG Coatings/Abingdon Operation Ed Wegener, Plant Manager AFG Coatings Abingdon, VA facility, has announced that Joe Haynes has been named as Production Manager for the facility. An eighteen-year veteran of AFG’s Greenland plant, Haynes began his career as a Tempering Supervisor, served as Quality Department Supervisor, and most recently as Quality Manager of the operation. As Production Manager, he will be responsible for providing leadership for Supervisors and Production Technicians, productivity, yield, packaging, quality, and training of employees. Joe is a 1998 graduate of Milligan College where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He and his wife Cindy and children Heather, Matt, and Maylee will continue to reside in Kingsport, TN.
